Together Apart: A collaborative art project by artist Tara Centybear shining a light on the divergent experiences we have all had in the isolation and social changes of 2020

Thank you for your interest in having your portrait & story included in my new body of work! Select pieces produced as part of this collaboration will be exhibited in the Together Apart exhibition at FOLD Gallery in Los Angeles, CA.

Coming Spring 2021!

To enter, please fill out the short questionnaire and share 10-20 digital photographs of yourself via Google Drive, DropBox, or WeTransfer. Your digital photographs should be sharp/non-blurry photos of you and include a mix of full body shots, portraits (from the shoulders up) from both the front and side view, and any other creative images you would like to share that include your likeness and express aspects of your 2020 experience.

Exhibition Description:
In these current times of unprecedented social isolation, the need for human interaction, connection, and community are pronounced in their palpable void. Together Apart will embrace, celebrate, and mourn the deep-seeded human desire for interaction and connection through embedding these exact desires into the conceptual fabric of the exhibition’s production. Collaboration is key and will be evident in the over two dozen portraits and figurative artworks on display by featured artists Sarah Detweiler and Tara Centybear.  Both Detweiler and Centybear produce figurative paintings where the female form is masked, hidden, and/or covered from view. By removing elements of the human form from view, Centybear and Detweiler are counterintuitively unveiling significant aspects of each subject’s identity, passions, and life story. For this exhibition, the two artists have concentrated on discussing the experiences, side effects (both positive and painful), and happenings women around the country and globe have gone through due to the isolation driven by the 2020 pandemic.

Please note, not all submissions will result in an artwork for the show, though I will do my best to include as many of you as I possibly can. Thank you for taking the time to submit and share your images, insights, and experiences!
